The best part about Hyderabad’s winter is that it is the perfect amount of ‘chilly’ for me. I am the kind of person who feels cold at the slightest drop in temperature so living in a city with extremely cold winters (like Delhi or anywhere up North) is a big no-no for me. It’s all about cozy sweaters and sipping hot drinks but after a while (read: a week) I can’t stand it anymore. So yes, sleeping in the same room as me with the air conditioning on, is a constant battle of finding the ‘right temperature’ to please both parties and in short an absolute nightmare for most people!
Here are some of my favorite picks from to add a little warmth and color to my wardrobe this winder!

I really can’t ever do without greys and blacks, so that’s the first thing that goes into my shopping bag. Just to keep it a little colorful, my next picks are a bright colorful cardigan and a more subtle pastel blue sweater. The latter’s color is so soothing and perfect for our winters.

I’ve been wanting a black ripped jeans since forever but for some reason, every time I set out to search and buy one, I end up purchasing anything and everything except that (sounds familiar?). Also I’m still big on midi skirts, and the white floral one is simply too cute to pass on. If there’s something that is a must in every wardrobe then that is a faux leather (say NO to leather) skirt/pant and drawstring trousers. Whether it’s summer, winter or any season, you can’t deny how comfortable they are!
The round clock bag is something we’ve been seeing a lot lately and why not!? It’s quirky and cute. Being an absolute lover of gold jewelry, my next two picks – the chunky layered necklace and the entwined bracelet, were a no-brainer. Lastly adding a pop of color with some delicate and intricately designed chandelier earrings!

The shoe story

Fashion, howrah bridge, Humour, Look of the Day
After years of having to follow a strict dress code of only kurtis and salwars (in college and then later in corporate) I sorta went on a mad spree of stocking up on every kind of blouse, trouser, skirt and dress. But just like my love for sarees, I always come back to these when the whim strikes, with the only rule being, it has to be a unique piece and not the same ‘ol cotton kurta. This pretty kaftan with its bright pops of green and blue, by Howrah Bridge was an instant favorite the moment I saw it. It pays to have talented designer blogger friends! I’ve been waiting for an occasion to wear it, so when the weather turned sunny and I needed something comfortable to slip in for a lunch with friends.. this seemed like the perfect choice!

I almost ended up doing this shoot barefoot because these are the most uncomfortable shoes ever. Only I could do such a thing as go to the store, try them on, walk around in them, get them on sale and still end up with the most uncomfortable pair ever. Also it’s not like they are sky high stilettos, they are practically flats (1.5 inch does not qualify as a heel). But there is something wrong with this pair and I haven’t been able to figure out what exactly. So how do you wear a pair of most uncomfortable shoes? The logical solution would be to not wear them at all, but, we don’t do that do we? One, ‘coz they look pretty. Two, money doesn’t grow on trees and neither does a free second pair to replace the current one. Three, it’s a perfect match to a particular outfit. And once that happens, logic goes out the window because all that matters is that the outfit looks good. Whether you end up with blisters on your feet, or you are hobbling down the road, or you start walking barefoot after 20 bone crunching paces, it’s all secondary. Amazing how fashion makes so much sense right?

The Forever Trends

Blogging, Fashion, trends
What goes around always comes around in fashion, sometimes in the exact same way or sometimes with a slight twist or addition of its own catering to the changing audience. But there’s no denying that trends that were ‘in’ in the 90’s like crop tops and overalls or the 70’s bell bottomed trousers and retro looks have all been churned out again. I have never been that keen on following trends mainly because I look at my blog, my life and my style as something very personal rather than fashion forward. Yes it’s always fun to try out new stuff and get out of your comfort zone but not to the point of following trends blindly to the ‘T’. Having said that, there are few trends that never go out of style and have become wardrobe staples. Keep these in your closet and you’ll never have to worry about the what do I wear syndrome!

Stripes: Ever since I first started style blogging about three or four years ago, I’ve been hearing that stripes are the best thing ever to happen to fashionkind. Well it’s true. I haven’t come across anything else that is so versatile and chic at the same time.

Polka dots: A polka dot dress automatically makes you feel all lady-like and a polka dot top or a shirt or even a skirt is just so cute and feminine.

Denim on Denim: From being labeled as the biggest fashion faux pas thanks to a number of public fashion crimes committed on its name, it has been given a second chance and successfully emerged as a favorite trend.

All whites: If you can leave aside the terrifying thought of spilling something or getting it dirty or being a total klutz while eating your favorite burger, an all white outfit looks sophisticated as hell. There’s no cooler and simpler way to dress than to go white head to toe.

Florals: Flowers are pretty. Period. Whether it’s in your garden or on your table in a vase or a bouquet in your hand or on either side of the road during a scenic drive OR on your clothes – they just look pretty and make your day so much better. I challenge you to wear a floral dress and be grumpy the whole day. Can’t do it.. can ya?!

It’s one of the most comfortable attires. It comes with pleats, it comes in crushed cotton, it comes in flowy chiffon, it comes in a riot of colors and it is perfect for so many occasions!
