Fashion, Indian wear, sponsored post
Scarves and stoles have mostly been a utilitarian fashion accessory, serving many-a-purpose right from keeping our hair-do’s intact from the winds, rains or plain old humidity, to acting as a filter while traversing our polluted lanes, or for adding that finishing touch to an outfit.

Be it a loosely tied scarf around the neck, or a shawl thrown across your shoulders as a wrap on those chilly winter nights, women across the globe have found smart and elegant ways to wear them with aplomb. While on one hand we have Marc by Marc Jacob’s floral scarves for the summers and Burberry’s ever popular giant checkered scarves for chilly days, closer home, we have elaborestore.com – the biggest online store for scarves, shawls and stoles.

Spring, summer, autumn and winter – they’ve got something to cover every season. Cashmere, cotton and silk you say? They’ve got that covered too. Plain, printed and funky styles for every occasion – let’s have a look at the The Girl At First Avenue’s top picks from their collections!

Evening soiree

Blogging, creativity, Fashion, Look of the Day
One of the best things about blogging is the insane number of talented people that you come across. Even though we are all just fashion bloggers on the surface, everybody is good at a minimum of two things or more. Writing, styling, designing, DIY’s… the list is just endless! Inspiration hits you from every angle and appreciation floods every sense of yours. It’s a feeling that you can understand if and only if you are part of the blogging community. The way you connect and click with total strangers over common grounds is fascinating and thrilling. Art of every form requires appreciation and only a true artist will whole heartedly applaud art without any form of competitiveness or jealousy. Because art cannot be defined. It is not owned by any single person nor can it be replicated by every other person. It is something unique to each individual, which makes it personal and universal at the same time.

As you can see I am in one of those ‘profound’ moods today, so before you decide to close this little window, we shall move on to the outfit (which was what I was trying to get at with my first sentence, and then I rambled on). The dress is by my blogger buddy Agam from Trimmings and Lace (remember her guest post here?) It’s a really pretty, delicate little thing in a pleasant pastel yellow. It’s part of her Trimmings and Lace collection, and the best part is, you specify whatever specific changes/alterations you want and she’ll have it ready even better than the mental picture in your head. Customizable to the T! What more can a girl ask for right? The color of the dress and the almost-tea-length length of it reminded me of an evening soiree – good food, good music and great conversations. I could use an evening like that!

Ask me if I care!

Fashion, Look of the Day, thoughts
Lately Mr.Murphy (the one from Murphy’s law.. duh!) has been sticking to my side like a lost puppy. Except, not so cute and very grouchy. Inspite of all my plans going kaput, I find myself smiling and laughing and going about life like nothing’s wrong. It’s one of those phases in life where, you know what you want and you know what is right and so you are least bothered about whatever else is going on around you.

My dressing depends a lot on my mood, second only to the place/occasion. And this t-shirt seemed so apt for my current state of mind that it was almost funny. For some reason I had bought it about a month back, even though I din’t find it in my size (this is XL by the way). It just seemed so comfortable and the right amount of slouchy with the right amount of attitude. Almost like I foresaw myself wearing this to match my mood.

When life is throwing brickbats at you, and you are standing there trying to protect your pretty little head with a flimsy net, ask yourself this – are you being an idiot to be standing there in the first place? If you are then walk away! Nobody or nothing can chain you to a certain place. You are free to walk away anywhere as long as you know it in your heart that you are right. Let the brickbats rain down and smash themselves on the ground and ask yourself if you care!

Delicious days: Thea Bar & Kitchen

delicious days, Food
Looking at me nobody believes that I am a foodie. Mostly because people have a totally wrong notion about what a ‘foodie’ means. It doesn’t mean you need to pig out at every meal. Doesn’t mean you have to overload on junk food all the time. Doesn’t mean that you have to be in the mood to eat at any given instant. And lastly it has nothing to do with a person being fat or thin! It is more of an ardent and refined taste, more of a hobby than just eating out of hunger or convenience (that’s what wikipedia says!)

I love exploring new joints, tasting different cuisines and experimenting with my choice of dishes. I am always up for trying something new and exciting. Since I end up going to a different place almost every weekend, I thought it would be fun to document some of the places that I really enjoyed because of the ambience and food.

Thea Bar and Kitchen is this really cozy place on Road no: 82 in Filmnagar. Although the cuisine says Mediterranean, I mostly found it to be a mix of Italian, Chinese and Indian! But after a few bites of food, you’d be ready to call it Timbuktu cuisine for all you cared, ‘coz the food is really that delicious! We started with Mongolian panneer, which true to its name looked quite confusing but tasted fabulous! It was basically panneer with sweet chilli sauce, with just the right amount of tangy and spicy. Why they had to name it Mongolian.. I have no idea! Next up, was stuffed roasted mushrooms – button mushrooms stuffed with cheese, chilli flakes, jalapenos and roasted – served with a dip. It was more on the spicy side but other than that, it was equally tasty.

For the main course it was Hong Kong fried noodles. Another weird name for a chinese item that has nothing to do with being mediterranean! I love my veggies and this had a good helping of almost every vegetable – crispy and fried to perfection. They also have a wide variety of pastas and risottos, which I definitely plan on trying next time. Its a cozy place with delicious food. Don’t go expecting mediterranean food (I think there are a couple of dishes with eggplant but that’s about it!). But do expect delicious food (whatever the cuisine), friendly staff, quick service and a quite and lovely ambience.

Frivolous Blues

Fashion, Look of the Day, Musings
I’ve been staring at the screen for the past 15min and my mind has been jumping from topic to topic with each one vanishing before I can convert it to words. Ever had that buzz in your head, where you can almost feel each thought escaping your grasp at the very last moment? Like you know you are thinking something important but you can’t really make sense of it yet? It’s like my mind has a mind of its own.. if that made any sense!

It’s on days like this, when my mind is going bonkers with ‘serious’ matters, that I am least interested in putting in any effort towards my other ‘frivolous’ interests like dressing up! Moments like that always have me wishing that I could walk out in my pyjamas without bothering to dress up. Well technically I could, but being a fashion blogger you just can’t do that. It’s almost like an invisible force is pulling you towards all those clothes waiting to be mix and matched and accessorized (and of course photographed). My answer to such days is a comfy pair of palazzos a.k.a pyjama pants. Bright, comfortable and fashionable.

Forget about Day to Night and Desk to Dinner looks. If you ask me this is a wake-up-from-bed and head-to-movies/brunch/dinner/shopping/laze around look! Incidentally I wore this to a brunch and movie and I was one happy kid the whole day!

Top 3 Websites To Buy Bags Online for Discounts

bags online, Fashion, sponsored post
Wallet – check. Deo – check. Moisturizer – check. Hand sanitizer – check. Wet wipes/makeup wipes – check. Charger and earphones – check. Sunglasses – check. Spare flats – check. And a million other assorted items like makeup pouch, a notepad, a pair of earrings, a novel, a protein bar, a mini water bottle – ALL CHECK.

That’s the bare minimum that I carry in my handbag on an everyday basis. On the days when I have a photo shoot planned, I also carry my camera and lenses. Whoever said that we girls carry our entire world in our bags was damn right!! Even on days when I am just carrying a tiny sling bag or a clutch, I have another bulging big tote tucked away in my car with all these essentials. Now that it’s summer you’ll definitely be carrying a few more essentials like a scarf or a hat to protect yourself from the sun, a sunscreen lotion or an umbrella when you have some walking to do, and definitely a water bottle (keep sipping to keep yourself hydrated!).

The websites that I am mentioning are quite popular and well know. What makes it a tad bit advantageous for us shopaholics is that you can avail different kinds of discounts very single day on these websites with the help of CouponzGuru. Just click on the links below the pictures to make use of the coupons on various products!
