Addons SS’14 collection review

Fashion
Last weekend, I had the chance to visit the Addons store to review their Spring/Summer ’14 collection. Addons has been that store that I always walk past, thinking I should pop into it someday, but never actually got around to doing it! I’ve always thought that it looks like a store with some affordable and pretty accessories and bags but for some reason there was always something else demanding my attention!

So this time when I got an invite, I jumped at it – and it din’t disappoint at all!

I made a beeline to the jewelry section because I could see a whole lot of ‘metallic’ there. Absolutely loved the chunky gold necklaces that they have. Earrings were okay, there were mostly studs whereas I usually go for long ones. There were some chandelier earrings that were very pretty! Another entire section was dedicated to silver jewelry but it was gold that stole all the attention.

How cute are those tiny skull necklaces?

They also had bags in yummy candy colors. Bright pinks and yellows – perfect for adding that pop of color to an outfit. But (as usual) I automatically went for black and cream. I must say I was surprised that the bags were of such good quality. They even provide warranty for six months. So kudos to that!

There wasn’t much choice in shoes. Just a few pairs of flats that weren’t particularly comfortable. Okay they looked nice, but I din’t like the quality much. At least after I’d seen the quality of the bags, I’d expected a similar standard but din’t quite meet my expectations. The sizes too were not very consistent even thought they were all of the same brand. Nevertheless, there was a mint green printed flats that I’d really liked!

When it came to these chunky necklaces, it was pure love! I loved the colors and they were so affordable (Compared to some of the exorbitantly priced online stores)

I really loved their sunglass cases. Something nice and fun to carry around, although I almost always prefer to carry the case that comes with the brand (with sunglasses its all about the brand!). But they looked quite tempting! They also had contact lens cases, which were so cute although I wish they had better colors and prints.

All in all I could see myself walking away with the entire jewelry section, a couple of bags, maybe a handful of earrings and whatever else I could have fit into my hands after all this! Definitely stepping into this store again… soon!

Summer prints

beach, Look of the Day, thoughts
I just checked and my last outfit post was on the 25th of Feb, exactly a month before! What was I doing all this while?  I’ve basically been cooped up indoors, working, painting away to glory, reading and writing a bit, drowning one fresh fruit juice after another, and not wanting to step out thanks to the soaring temperatures. Although the heat is still on the bearable side, I shudder to think what the coming months are going to bring. Summer always makes people dream about beaches, sipping drinks by the pool and lazing around. And I’ve never understood why. The beaches that I know of in India, specially in the summer months, are hot as hell, crowded, humid and did I mention hot? My mind always wanders off to cooler places, maybe a lovely cottage at a hill station, some place where I can breathe and not feel like the clothes am wearing are trying to melt my skin away!

The right kind of clothing in summer is a must for me. Only then can I be comfortable and function like a normal human being. Else, I start biting people’s heads off. Skirts and dresses are great for hot weather, but not for every place and occasion. So every summer I am on the lookout for light, cotton trousers as an alternative to jeans and leggings. Luckily this time I managed to grab a couple of them before they disappeared off the racks, and I am so ready to over-use and wear them to death this entire summer – starting right below! 🙂

TheGirlAtFirstAvenue for Snupped.com

Art, Fashion, laptop sleeve
What’s the most essential gadget for a blogger apart from a camera? A laptop right..! And then a tab or maybe your phone. And however “smart” our gadget is, we all love to give it a personal touch in sync with our quirky personalities. Snupped.com is one such site that lets you customize laptop sleeves, phone cases, covers for your ipad or tab.

Darcy and Brian the two co-founders of Snupped, created their first ever laptop sleeve out of a curtain (totally my kind of people), which immediately sparked up an interest among their friends. Soon after they decided to offer custom laptop sleeves and much more to anyone who wanted something eye catching and unique. A couple of burgers and a lot of arguing later, they came up with an initial concept idea and thus Snupped happened!

Both Darcy and Brian are like their Snupped.com products – made in Singapore!

When they first contacted me I was blown away by some of the designs. They work with designers and artists all over the world, to transform their creative works into simple, fun, usable lifestyle products. As an artist myself, this was one fact that I really appreciated. Giving budding artists a chance to not just display their work but also make it useful for people who appreciate art to have it or take it along with them on an everyday basis – is simply genius!

How it works:
1. Choose a case that is most suitable for your device – laptop, tablet or phone
(They have standard options for samsung, iphone and Macbooks. If you are carrying some other model, you can specify it along with the dimensions. Basically it can be custom tailored for ANY device)

2. Choose the design for front and back
You first choose for the front of the sleeve and then the back. You can have different images on both sides. They have an extensive library of images from various artists to choose from. You can also upload your own picture/design and use it.

3. Choose the interior
You choose a design for the interior of the laptop sleeve.

4. Finally you can customize to add “handles” to your laptop sleeve or leave it just the way it is.

Try out their user-friendly design tool and design your own sleeve!

What I picked:
After browsing through their entire library of images, I found that I absolutely loved the images by Minjae Lee. He is a South Korean artist, whose work is characterized by the expressiveness in his female form art works.

For the front of the laptop sleeve, I chose a really ethereal picture of a girl looking away into the distance. For the back, I chose my own blog’s design.

Verdict:
I simply love it! It is completely waterproof and flame-resistant. With a lovely cotton fabric interior, it has been handcrafted to perfection. It has already been turning heads everywhere I go! Definitely recommend these guys for their designs and quality.

    Road trip to Kuntala falls

kuntala falls, road trip, Travel, weekend
About a month back we went on a short one day road trip to Kuntala falls near Hyderabad. It’s a really nice place to go right after the monsoons and the drive to the place is fabulous thanks to the superb roads. There are 408 steps to climb down, (and climb back up which conveniently slips out of your mind when going down) to reach the falls. A few km from this place is Pochera falls, which is also worth seeing mainly because there’s no climbing up/down to do there 🙂
I digging through my photo archives when I found these pictures. I guess my ever present need for a travel holiday made me gravitate towards these! Sometimes I find candid clicks a refreshing change from outfit posts. Hope you enjoy them too!
