Orange Burst

creativity, Look of the Day, Musings, weekend
Its happening a little too frequently than I would have preferred, that I am staring at a blank screen willing words to appear out of nothing. Should I be concerned? Writing was one thing that came to me effortlessly.. it still does.. from time to time. Worse than being unable to write is people interrupting you when you have gotten some sort of coherent flow out of you. There are times when I hate to be disturbed 1) When am in my ‘zone’ and am writing 2) When am deeply engrossed in a novel (which is almost all the time) 3) When I have my earphones on.

For some reason people seem to pick only these instances to talk or ask stupid questions. Do I look like I have a ‘To be disturbed’ board hanging around my neck? It’s happened to me so many times, specially when I have my headphones on. Someone next to me says something, and I take them out (to be polite) , smile/nod/listen (whatever), wait a few more appropriate seconds and as soon as I put them back on, they open their (useless) mouth again! Why? Why?

No its not about manners. Well it is. It’s also common sense. Which is strangely is not so common to find. Some people I tell you.. there’s no hope for them!

Brights on a rainy day

Fashion, Look of the Day, Musings, Random ramblings
Umpteen attempts at writing a sensible post. Din’t work. Too preoccupied to focus on a single task right now. So let the thoughts flow…
  • Why oh why can’t people keep their precious ‘advice’ to themselves? I am usually good at blocking out unnecessary voices noises, but after a while it gets to you.
  • People change. For good and for bad too. You have no control over it and you don’t have to. Its okay that way. Perhaps even better that way.
  • Do what you love because you love doing it. Not for money. Not for fame. Not because of pressure or anything else if you want to continue to be in love with it.
  • They say it takes 21 days to form a (good) habit. In my case it took 4 days and a killer instinct to truly want to better my life. Unless it comes from within you, that yearning with every cell of your body, no one.. literally no one can help you.
  • I haven’t shopped since April. No, its not self-control or a test. I just don’t feel like it. Am content with what I have. No more meaningless retail therapy. I have better things to do!
This is an old old outfit post, which is perfect for this week’s weather: dull, gloomy and raining non-stop!

Travel and Fitness: Work it!

Fitness, health, Indian wear, Look of the Day, Travel
Sitting and standing is proving to be quite a task since the past few days. My body is sore all over and muscles that I never knew I had are aching like they had the crap beaten out of them. Why? That’s because I’ve been working out. Yes skinny girls work out too. A smack on the back of your head if you raised your eyebrows in wonder. Fitness is for everyone. Okay?

When you have been on the skinny side practically your whole life, its easy to slip into the couch-potato mode with zero exercise and workout for your body. The couch becomes your best friend. No matter what you eat, where you eat and how much you eat, your clothes fit you the same. You see no reason to change your sedentary lifestyle  and before you know it, there is a tiny layer of fat building up which only you can see. One fine day you realize you are unable to carry a 3kg bag of groceries from the kirana store to your house, which is hardly half a kilometer. Climbing 3 flights of stairs leaves you breathless (At one point I did 6 flights every single day without a break) Few more such embarrassing incidents later you realize how pathetic your condition has become.

So I made some drastic changes. After google-ing and reading a lot, I devised a workout plan and diet for myself (which I’ll share soon). Although its just day #4, I like what am seeing.

These pics were shot on a short trip to Anantagiri hills, a perfect place for trekking. We also planned to visit the temple there (which is what it’s actually famous for) so I had to be in traditional clothes. If you are wondering why I was wearing walking shoes on this outfit… now you know why. Sometimes its all about the comfort.

Going casual

Humour, Look of the Day, Remix, weekend
I woke up wanting to wear something really casual today. Yep, first thing on my mind when I woke up was clothes. You could tell it was going to be an amazing Saturday. Somehow, for me, stripes = casual, so I was trying all the more to stay away from it, you know, as a challenge. *Yes I saw you roll your eyes. Don’t judge!* But today was one of those days where my clothes were waging a mini war with me. For some reason every outfit that I picked decided to look ridiculous on me. If they were trying to take revenge for the way they had been unceremoniously crumpled and pushed together in my closet… I kinda had it coming.

So we fought. My leggings suddenly turned terribly itchy. My shirt tried to suffocate me. My jeans refused to button up. A perfect color combo of pale pink and blue decided to look terrible against my skin. As if all this weren’t enough my favorite yellow t-shirt decided to rip.

Did I just use ‘amazing’ and ‘saturday’ in the same sentence?

Stripes won. Lesson learnt.
