Holiday foods.

Food, holidays
What is the one thing that you indulge in when on a vacation, no matter where you go? FOOD!
Whether its a relaxing spa holiday or an action packed adventure spots holiday, you need to indulge in some wine and dine or a power packed breakfast accordingly.

Over the years, unknowingly I seem to have clicked a lot of ‘food pictures’ in all the places that I’ve visited. Sometimes it was a hearty breakfast at a hotel, at other times it was a quick stop for lunch on the highway while driving through a city or making do with whatever simple vegetarian meals we could find at a nearby cafe.

Some of the memorable few out of the hundreds that I’ve clicked.

1) Hotel Eliza – Prague, Czech
I absolutely loved the breakfast here!

2) After a long day of walking, museums, shopping – at a road side bistro in Florence

3) Quick stop on the highway en route to Stuttgart, Germany

4) Thai food – Bern, Switzerland

5) More pasta and pizza – Florence, Italy
6) And when all other options fail.. its fresh fruits to the rescue!…

7)…. or you forage for food in the local super market all the while trying to determine whether what you are holding is vegetarian or not!

8) Some days you make do with a bag of potato chips, bread and some read-to-eat dal and curry packets that you’ve got from home!

9) Baked beans, potato and vegetables – picnic on the highway!

10) Even now I am not entirely sure what this was. All I know is its some sort of soup and its vegetarian!

11) Potato and rice!

Yummy pancakes! – Sydney, Australia

….with plums and cherry..

Coffee on the go…

and then some of our very own, good ‘ol pani puri!

p.s : I repeat again, I try my best to reply back to each and every comment but sometimes its just not possible (because I am only human, despite what I sometimes seem to project ;)). Apologies if I miss a few here and there! I assure you its not intensional!

Mondays are the best.

Look of the Day, Random ramblings, weekend
The past week was a blur. I don’t think I can come up with anything if you ask me how it was. That’s how good or bad it was. But the weekend was exceptional. That I definitely remember. And the post title? No I wasn’t kidding. Waking up late, late breakfast, napping in the afternoon and settling down with a couple hundred blogs to read and comment on in the evening – the best feeling ever? No wonder I am in love with this particular Monday.

I was supposed to shoot an outfit on Saturday which I dint, and then again on Sunday which again I dint. I decided to do it on Monday i.e today. i.e like right now but I can’t get myself to spoil my perfect day by getting out of my pj’s and getting out of bed and stepping out into the hot sun. Which by the way brings me to my most favorite topic of discussion? Cribbing about weather. Why on earth is it so hot already?  I am terribly missing winter *sob*

This was something I wore I-don’teven-remember-when  (probably last month). I just found these photos sitting innocently in my drafts, along with a lot of other badly-written-might-never-be-published posts.

If this little random rant doesn’t make any sense.. my apologies! Sometimes you are too happy to be making any sense! 😉

p.s – Those who have word verification, please do consider removing it.

And these are officially the worst pair of sunglasses I own. I really need to splurge on a new one.

Lessons in Life

Musings, thoughts
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been in a very philosophical mood. Not un-common with me!
I’ve been thinking a lot about various things and trying to make a lot of changes in my life. Like what? Let’s just say its time to get rid of certain things, adjust, plan and make way for something new. Now that cleared up everything right. I guess I am in a ‘vague mood’ too!

I came across these words somewhere and thought I’d share them.

I choose to live by choice, not by chance

to make changes, not excuses.
to be motivated, not manipulated.
to be useful, not used.
to excel, not compete.
I choose self esteem, not self pity
I choose to listen to my inner voice, not random opinion of others.
Words to live by!

Also, thank you all for your comments on my previous post. I immensely enjoyed reading every single comment. Almost everybody had something to say and it was great to read everyone’s different ideas and opinions. Thanks a lot for reading, and more importantly for responding! 🙂

p.s – Radha.Rani, my reply to you is in the comments section of the previous post.

A dose of this and that!

Blogging, Look of the Day, thoughts
I have an interesting question for you guys.

Am sure all of you would agree that your blog or any blog, is a projection of the person behind that blog. At least that is what we all try to do. We try to pour our personalities into our blogs. But at the same time a blog probably represents about 20-30% of who we really are. It’s just a slice of the whole.

So my question is, is it okay for a reader to say – “My opinion about you is based on what you project on your blog. So if my opinion is wrong, its your fault”

Do you agree?
Are we forming opinions about a blogger, solely based on what a blogger writes or the way they dress?

The way I see it, its a double edged sword.
If the answer is yes, we are quick to say that since this doesn’t represent a person’s entire persona/life, its wrong to judge based on only this. We are quick to point a finger and blame them for judging us blindly.
But not many people pause to think about whether the reason for them to judge you ‘blindly’ is because of the kind of image you are projecting – whether consciously or unconsciously. Each person has their own way of perceiving things. Sometimes you might think you are being ‘firm’ or ‘assertive’ but the other person might perceive that as ‘rudeness’ or ‘arrogance’. Or those times when you are trying to be really funny and sarcastic and you are met with a blank stare. Majority of the time, what you project is what people get about you.

As bloggers I agree that the responsibility lies with us to be honest and project who we truly are instead of trying to build a false image. But none of us wants to display our whole persona here either. There are some issues that are private (including your characteristics) and that’s the way they are meant to be.

So if you are a blogger who is always complaining and ranting that people ‘get you wrong’, then let me tell you… the rest of us have a life. Which we would obviously want to spend in a more productive way than sit and analyze your life all day long. If you don’t want people to build on that image that they have about you, stop putting false and arrogant information on your blog or even in day-to-day life for that matter! Granted that its your blog and its totally upto you what you write on it. But keep in mind that what you give is what you get. So suck it up, and quit complaining.

If you are a reader who is saying that your opinions are whole-ly based on what the blogger writes and that is all that you are going to by – then use your brain! Its basic common sense. What you see it not always the entire story. Learn to analyze your inputs, add a few of your own and form opinions accordingly. So you too, suck it up and quit blaming!
